Art Beast Classes-Process Art, Movement & Music!

Come anytime and drop into one of our classes with paid admission to the studio. All classes are designed to run on an ongoing basis so you do not need to hit a specific start date. Parents are always asked to stay close during the class, and many classes invite and encourage parent participation. All classes can be explored without committing to the full series. However, we encourage families to consider trying a class for 4 to 8 weeks so that children get the opportunity to explore the art or activity, build a relationship with the teacher, and develop rapport with their classmates. Most classes are capped at 12 children and most days there will be plenty of room! We do recommend arriving up to 30 minutes early to ensure a spot in the class. There is a sign up sheet at the front desk, please sign up when you arrive. A few classes are presented as a "drop in" format so you do not need to sign up for these and you can come anytime during the duration of the class to do a short, simple activity that usually takes 10-20 minutes with the assistance of our wonderful Art Beast Coaches, Teachers, & Volunteers. Supplies may be limited however (first come, first served) and please do understand we will need to end these sessions promptly at the designated time so don't arrive too late.

10:30 Petitations: Mindful Play with Liz (Ages 2 & up/Families)

Petitations are a way of practicing mindfulness with the help of stuffies, kaleidoscopes, snow globes, and animal-centered books, making it easier for kids and adults to focus and practice effectively while having fun in the process. Mindfulness has been shown to help with concentration, calming down the body and mind, enhancing relationships, and boosting overall happiness. This is a sensory-friendly, family class designed to help children of all ages feel comfortable, accepted, and safe in a quiet and inclusive environment.

Stuffies and other mindful props will be provided to use during class (children can bring their own favorite stuffie to use if they wish). Caregivers are encouraged to participate in this 20-30 minute class with their child.

10-11 Workshop for Big & Little Beasts (All Ages; Drop In) Various teachers

Each Friday features a fun and engaging workshop where families can explore the arts, participate in messy science activities or engage in sensory play together. We provide the supplies and guidance as grown ups and children explore activities together. This is a “drop in” format so you are welcome to come participate anytime within the hour. Most projects take about 10-20 minutes to complete so in consideration of our teachers, please allow enough time for your child to complete the project by 11.

What makes Art Beast different from other studios?

  • Our classes are designed specifically for children 7 and under

  • Our classes emphasize process over product

  • You can take a class AND play for hours before or afterward in our play spaces

  • Parents can join many of the classes or easily watch from the comfortable, roomy seating area

  • While one child takes a class, you have other play spaces to explore with your other children nearby

  • Classes beat other studio's prices AND include far more than a single session

  • Your child does not need to commit to an 8 week session. They can dabble and try out various classes to find a good fit.

  • Every penny earned by Art Beast supports Tubman House, a transitional community for young homeless parents and their children.

Class Breaks, Seasonal Schedule & Holiday Closures
