Art Beast Classes for Summer 2018

Come anytime and drop into one of our classes with paid admission to the studio. All classes are designed to run on an ongoing basis so you do not need to hit a specific start date. Parents are always asked to stay close during the class, and many classes invite and encourage parent participation. All classes can be explored without committing to the full series. However, we encourage families to consider trying a class for 4 to 8 weeks so that children get the opportunity to explore the art or activity, build a relationship with the teacher, and develop rapport with their classmates. Most classes are capped at 12 children and most days there will be plenty of room! We do recommend arriving up to 30 minutes early to ensure a spot in the class. There is a sign up sheet at the front desk, please sign up when you arrive.

We have a class break the first week of June and new Summer Schedule June 11th - Aug. 24th. See below for that upcoming schedule.

*Currently we do not have any classes on weekends

Summer Class Schedule June 11th – August 24th, 2018

Class break August 27th-30th

10:30 Nature All around Us (3 & up) with Diana
Come explore the wonders of nature, and this wonderful world we live in through stories, song, art, and more. Younger siblings are welcome to come and enjoy the story and song but art activities will be designed for preschool age and older.

10:30 Story Art (Ages 4 & up) with Ms Bryna

Join us for stories and crafts every Tuesday this Summer, curated for 4-6 year olds.

10:30 Making Music! (All Ages) with Ms Nicole

In this lively class, kids will enjoy singing their favorite nursery rhymes and bravely sharing their own songs with the group (optional). We will also be exploring different musical instruments and reading a new story each week about the wonderful world of music. On special days Nicole will bring in a musical story to share that she wrote and created herself with help from other artists. To close the class each day, students will get to create a simple art project related to music (music note collage, colorful ornaments, a play microphone, etc.). Fun for all ages and appropriate for kids new to music or who have previous experience. Come make music!

10:30 am First Steps in Music (All Ages) with Ms Ariana

Through imaginative play, music from around the world and a variety of instruments, your child will explore the world of music. Classes provide expressive singing, engaging with small instruments, and rhythmic activities to help develope your child’s sense of rhythm and pitch.

10-11am Workshop for Big & Little Beasts (All ages) with Ms Resha & Ms Courtney

Drop-in. Adult participation required for younger children.

Each Friday features a fun and engaging new workshop where families can explore the arts, science activities or sensory play together. Art Beast provides the supplies and guidance as grown ups and children explore activities together. This class has a “drop in” format which means you are welcome to come participate anytime within this hour and most projects take about 10-30 minutes to complete. Workshops are held either in our upstairs classroom or in our outdoor courtyard, inquire at front desk upon arrival.

What makes Art Beast different from other studios?

  • Our classes are designed specifically for children 7 and under
  • Our classes emphasize process over product
  • You can take a class AND play for hours before or afterward in our play spaces
  • Parents can join many of the classes or easily watch from the comfortable, roomy seating area
  • While one child takes a class, you have other play spaces to explore with your other children nearby
  • Classes beat other studio's prices AND include far more than a single session
  • Your child does not need to commit to an 8 week session. They can dabble and try out various classes to find a good fit.
  • Every penny earned by Art Beast supports Tubman House, a transitional community for young homeless parents and their children.

Class Breaks, Seasonal Schedule & Holiday Closures
