by Bridget Alexander — last modified Mar 24, 2010 02:20 PM

Art Beast will be offering week long summer camps throughout the summer. Camps we plan to offer include: Yoga and Eco Art, Exploring Art, Clay and Cob Camp, Toy and Puppet Making, Dance Camp, and a Theater Camp that infuses art, music and movement in bringing African folktales to life. We will also have a Gizmo Camp for children who love to build and make things.

Camps will run from June through August and most will last one week. Children can attend the morning session from 9 to 1 or the afternoon session from 1:30 to 5:30.  We are also exploring offering 2 day a week camps so let us know what configurations you'd like to see! These camps will allow parents to drop children off.  A one week session will be $160 (which includes all camp materials).

We've designed our camps with certain goals in mind.  First off, our camps will serve children between 4 and 6 years old.  We want to create a space that honors young children by offering activities and environments suited to that age range. Each session will fill at 15 children and be led by two teachers, promising a group that can grow close.  Our teachers are primarily current Art Beast teachers. Sonja and Jenna will both be offering camps, as will our dance teachers Winter and Maya.  The camps will also offer a blend of structured activity in the classroom and free play within the building, always under close supervision by the camp teachers.

And, as always, when you choose Art Beast camps, the money you pay supports Tubman House, a residential community for young, homeless parents and their children- and a portion of your camp fees will be tax deductible.

Hope to see you this Summer!  Looking forward to hearing your ideas!
